More Posts About Dulcimer Playing Coming Soon

My intention was for this blog to have somewhat of an even balance of posts pertaining to both dulcimer making and dulcimer playing as well as articles on tools, music, rants, raves, etc.

It seems most posts have been about making dulcimers. This is partly because I am still learning to use my recording and video gear.

No, not more dulcimer music!

I have all the required hardware and software but have not yet learned enough to consistently create recordings and videos of respectable quality. This mornings attempt looked fine but sounded like I was playing while inside a washing machine.

I hope to soon be posting audio and video as well as some of the tablature I use when teaching.

Stay tuned!

  1. Hi John,

Thanks for the kind words. Looking forward to reading more of your blog as well – I got overwhelmed for a while with all the info the web throws at me but have recently found some better ways to organize all the information!

I’ll keep you posted on how the recording/video works out. The web cam seems to take decent enough video but the sound is not great. I’m going to try using a usb mixer and a good mic for sound – works well for recording but haven’t tried it with video yet.

    All the best,

    Doug

  2. Interesting. I gave up posting videos on the RFBanjo site because I never liked the sound quality, & the vids also never quite synched up between visual & audio, which was annoying. I also found that the built in mic on my webcam simply couldn’t handle a banjo, tho it did all right with a guitar. Will be interested in reading how this works out.

Love your blog–I read it religiously, tho I haven’t commented before!
