Dulcimer 121 by Doug Berch Front 1024x272 Dulcimer Lesson Playing The Lower Octave in D A D Tuning

One of the joys of playing dulcimer in D-A-D is the ability to play an entire octave using only the first three frets. I came across this idea in the early 1970′s and it quickly became integral to my dulcimer playing.

The tablature shows a D Major scale starting on the open bass string and ending using the open melody string.  The fingerings in the tablature are suggestions to get you started. I vary the fingering to best suit the music being played.
