I’m starting to pack for a road trip. I’ll be setting up a booth and showing my dulcimers at The Cranberry Dulcimer and Autoharp Gathering near Syracuse, NY. I’ll also be offering a hammered dulcimer workshop. The last time I played at this festival was in the late 1980′s or the early 1990′s. Should be fun!

I’ll be traveling with my old friend Michael C. Allen, the maker of Cloud Nine Hammered Dulcimers and Marimbulas.

So here are the dulcimers I’ll be traveling with:

dulcimers getting ready for a road trip

As in getting ready for any trip I’ve had to have a talk with these dulcimers.

The curly walnut one on the left insists it doesn’t need to use the restroom but I know it will 5 miles down the road. The curly cherry one (third from the left) keeps poking the curly walnut one next to it and they are about to start fighting. The spruce topped one (second from the right) is already asking if we are going to stop for ice cream along the way.

They are all getting fidgety. There are some long games of license-plate bingo in my future.

    Hi Doug-
Sorry we missed saying hi to you at Evart. At some point Mary Jane mentioned she saw you and said hello and we asked how we missed that. We live in a fog. Jeesh! Beautiful dulcimers in the photo.
At least no one said, are we there yet?

Thanks for the kind words. Looking forward to seeing you!

I used to be in a band that only let me say “Are we there yet?” twice per road trip!
